What is the least expensive way to improve the future? EDUCATION! Grow Our Faith is constantly striving to share learning opportunities with vulnerable families. Please help us with a monthly donation of $50 to sponsor a child’s formal education or give a onetime gift to be used to support our Cyber Centers and our uniform programs.
Nutrition
We address hunger in several ways. The most effective way is our Garden Tower Program. Vulnerable families are given a garden tower, taught how to care for it and it will provide 5-6 meals per week at a cost of $20.
For urgent situations, we provide a sack of groceries for a hungry family at a cost of $10. This will provide meals for 2-3 days.
Water
We are working hard to purchase a Village Drill from WhoLives.org. For only $30,000, we will gather a team of men from a village with no job opportunities, train them to run the drill and give them jobs drilling boreholes in surrounding communities. This is a double blessing as we provide new boreholes for dry villages and jobs for people who desparately need them.
Our Plan
Many families in Kenya and Uganda live on less than $83 per month. Although expenses are lower here than in the US, maize flour which is used to make Ugali is still $1 for a 4 pound bag. When the family is without other food, they will often use that in one day. Rent is often $25 for a single room with no running water. The outdoor latrine is shared with neighbors. 79% of families in Kenya live in this type of housing. And tuition/uniforms/supplies are required for the children to attend the public schools.
The biggest hurdle to improving the earning capacity of these families is by offering additional education. So the first priority is to offer additional education at no charge. This is why our Family Empowerment Centers have a Cyber Center and areas for learning useful skills such as tailoring, catering, jewelry making, welding, auto mechanics, etc. The large meeting room will allow us to host experts in many fields who can teach topics from first aid to running a small business. By including a clinic office, patients can be seen by visiting medical personnel as well as counselors.
